Summary
Canteen is seeking a detail-driven, standards-focused Market Inspection Manager to lead and manage the entire Market Inspection Program across our markets. This role establishes expectations for market standards, ensures compliance through consistent and objective inspections, and provides leadership, training, and accountability across field teams. You will own inspection scheduling, data accuracy, scoring integrity, and continuous improvement of market performance.
Key Responsibilities
Market Inspection Program Management
• Own and manage all components of the Market Inspection Program.
• Create, edit, and maintain inspection forms within Safety Culture.
• Pull, analyze, and distribute inspection data to leadership and operational teams.
• Set market standards, merchandising expectations, goals, and supporting policies.
• Train, coach, and guide all employees involved in market inspections.
Inspection Scheduling & Execution
• Build and manage a comprehensive inspection schedule.
• Oversee the market inspection team to ensure all inspections are completed on time.
• Maintain minimum inspection requirements, including:
o 1 inspection per route per month
o 2 inspections per market per year
o 1 solo inspection per week by each CSM, DGM, DOM, and RD
• Perform inspections as needed and ensure additional inspections are properly delegated to authorized personnel.
• Ensure market needs are met with additional inspections when necessary.
Quality, Integrity & Standardization
• Ensure objectivity and consistency in the scoring and evaluation process.
• Lead quarterly group inspections across randomized markets, coordinating rotating inspector groups.
• Review inconsistent or unbalanced scoring and challenge discrepancies.
• Monitor inspector scoring trends and address outliers.
Team Accountability & Coaching
• Lead with accountability by setting clear expectations and supporting team members in achieving them.
• Provide clear direction, feedback, and support for continuous improvement.
• Lead bi-weekly screenshot/photo and inspection review meetings.
• Assign and manage preparation tasks and data compilation before each meeting.
Reporting & Communication
• Produce and share inspection reporting, trends, and action items with leadership.
• Communicate standards, expectations, and follow-up items to operational teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across markets.
Qualifications
• Experience in retail operations, quality assurance, merchandising, or compliance strongly preferred.
• 2–3 years of big-box retail management experience required, preferably at the Assistant Store Manager level or higher.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to maintain objectivity.
• Excellent communication and coaching abilities.
• Proficiency with operational software/systems (Safety Culture experience a plus).
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and drive strategic improvements.
