Job Summary

Summary:  A culinary pizza supervisor oversees kitchen staff, ensures food quality and safety, and manages daily operations like prep lists, inventory, and equipment maintenance. Key responsibilities include supervising the pizza-making line, training team members, maintaining sanitation standards, and ensuring customer satisfaction through consistent food preparation and presentation. The role requires strong communication, leadership, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Staff and operations management:

  • Lead and support the kitchen team during shifts to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assign and review the work of cooks and food service personnel.
  • Train and mentor new and existing staff on food preparation and safety standards.

Food quality and safety:

  • Monitor food preparation and ensure it meets restaurant recipes, portioning, and quality standards.
  • Ensure all food is prepared to safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Oversee the quality of all food items, including toppings, sauces, and finished products.

Kitchen and inventory control:

  • Create and manage daily prep lists and opening/closing duties.
  • Monitor and manage inventory, including proper storage, rotation (FIFO), and ordering.
  • Manage food costs by controlling waste and usage.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is clean, in proper working condition, and report any malfunctions.

Customer service:

  • Work with management to ensure customer satisfaction and address any issues.
  • Help maintain a positive and productive kitchen culture

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment is often preferred.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food preparation techniques is necessary.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills are essential for working with staff and management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task is required.
  • Good attention to detail, especially regarding food safety and quality standards.
