General Description
As one of the Event Marketing Interns, you will serve as one of the primary student leaders supporting M Food Co.'s residential dining and retail events, as well as campus engagement initiatives.
Unlike a traditional marketing internship, this role takes ownership of assigned events from planning through post-event evaluation. You will work alongside the Director of Marketing & Communications and the Marketing & Sustainability Manager to coordinate logistics, support event execution, gather event content and feedback, and measure success.
You will manage your own portfolio of events throughout the semester, helping ensure every activation delivers a memorable student experience while contributing valuable insights that improve future programming.
This position is ideal for students interested in event management, experiential marketing, hospitality, project management, or campus programming.
Requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable interacting with students, campus partners, vendors, and staff
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Willingness to work evenings during campus events
- Ability to lift and transport event materials (up to 30 lbs)
- Comfortable capturing photo and video content during events
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
- Interest in event planning, hospitality, marketing, or student engagement
- Experience coordinating events or student organizations is preferred but not required
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Event Planning & Coordination
- Own the planning and coordination of assigned marketing events with support from the Marketing team by:
- Assisting with event timelines and planning documents
- Coordinating activity materials and supplies
- Preparing event logistics and setup plans
- Tracking event inventories and promotional items
- Communicating event needs with the marketing team
- Own the planning and coordination of assigned marketing events with support from the Marketing team by:
- Event Execution
- Serve as one of the primary student leaders during events by:
- Leading event setup and teardown
- Managing games, activities, and student engagement stations
- Supporting vendor and campus partner needs
- Troubleshooting logistics during events
- Helping create a welcoming and energetic atmosphere
- Serve as one of the primary student leaders during events by:
- Event Content & Storytelling
- Capture content that helps tell the story of each event by:
- Taking photos and videos during events
- Capturing behind-the-scenes moments
- Recording student testimonials when appropriate
- Identifying social media opportunities
- Assisting with light event recap content
- Capture content that helps tell the story of each event by:
- Event Data & Assessment
- Own event data collection and post-event reporting by:
- Collecting attendance estimates
- Tracking giveaway and promotional item usage
- Gathering student feedback
- Summarizing event successes and opportunities
- Assisting with post-event recap reports and presentations
- Lead monthly client newsletter development by gathering updates, photos, results, and highlights from each intern lane and coordinating the newsletter draft
- Helping identify trends to improve future programming
- Own event data collection and post-event reporting by:
- Cross-Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with Digital Marketing, Retail, Boost, Wellness, Ambassadors and other Marketing Interns
- Assist with large campus initiatives such as Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Homecoming, and additional signature events
- Support other marketing initiatives as needed during slower event periods
Learning Objectives
- By the end of this internship, students will:
- Gain experience planning and managing event logistics and execution from start to finish
- Learn experiential marketing strategies
- Build project management and leadership skills
- Develop professional communication and collaboration experience
- Learn how event success is measured through attendance, engagement, feedback, and marketing metrics
- Build a portfolio of event plans, recap reports, and campus programming experience
This is a paid intern position; however, it is not eligible for paid time off (PTO) or benefits such as medical, dental, vision, etc.

Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease). Any such periods during which you do not perform work on the Company’s behalf may be unpaid and deemed a temporary layoff.
