Role Summary:
The District Executive Chef will directly partner with the District Manager (DM) on culinary service excellence, financial management, and user experience for the food program within a predetermined area / “District”. This position reports to the Regional Director of Operations and will leverage their strong culinary and operational skills to partner with key stakeholders (client, culinary leadership, nutrition, marketing, concept development, strategic operations, procurement, risk management) to promote our client’s food expectations and enhance the user (guest) experience.
The District Executive Chef (DEC) takes ownership of the evolving, dynamic, and innovative food program within their specific region. The DEC provides high level culinary expertise, creativity, and project support to culinary operations while managing, implementing and supporting all food related programs in a multi-unit operation. The DEC upholds the standards for back-of-house and front-of-house operating systems, procedures, and QA standards. The DEC provides culinary training, mentoring, and program implementation across cafés, catering, and food spots within their region. This is a culinary leadership role at both regional and cafe levels.

- Partner with District Manager (DM) to drive, manage and own the overall experience, not just the offerings
- Consistently deliver on deliciousness, excellence, innovation, and standards.
- Accurately forecast business based on data and sound reasoning.
- Identify and analyze success metrics that align program values, customer experience, operational excellence, and financial requirements.
- Strategic leadership of the culinary operations team, in line with business objectives
- Ensure all cafe budgets are in line with forecasts.
- Supports development of efficient BOH labor models, implementing across culinary and accountable for meeting the budget.
- Leads culinary initiatives and development opportunities for the district culinary team.
- Sets an expectation of hospitality that is friendly and engaging.
- Manage and mentor toward business goals and client initiatives, ensuring maturation and training of our team.
- Supports the launch of new cafes and food spots in partnership with the Mobilization team.
- Leads culinary refinement and optimization of current cafes including culinary guidance for continuous improvement and innovation.
- Lead testing and implementation of culinary initiatives and regional projects.
- Ensure that all products and ingredients that are used are purchased following client and company purchasing standards and sustainability commitments.
- Compile and present strategic recommendations directly impacting all culinary operations to senior management.
- Collaborate with the central development kitchen to maintain recipe and electronic menu databases, including scaling to appropriate volumes.
- Partner with Food Safety and Workplace Safety managers to train and develop safety programs.
- Supports the procurement team in analysis and maintenance of vendor partnerships.
- Ensure all client and Compass employee guidelines are implemented and adhered to within the region.
- Treats everyone with professionalism, care, and respect.
- Communicate honestly, accurately, and in a timely manner with all stakeholders including clients.
- Work closely with the operations team and senior management to achieve client expectations.

Minimum Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited culinary institution preferred; or equivalent work experience.
- 10 years executive-level culinary management experience.
- Minimum 5 years of culinary management experience in a multi-unit setting required.
- A proven track record as a hospitality focused and financially responsible manager.
- Prior experience managing volume of at least $20M with P&L experience.
- Diverse and experienced leader: proven coaching and development skills with individuals, and teams.
- Expert knowledge of food and culinary trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
- Highly developed culinary creativity skills and comfort with multiple cuisines.
- Proven ability to maximize budget, enhance sustainability and creativity across all channels in alignment with business strategy.
- Ability to effectively communicate, motivate, and interact with all levels within a matrixed organization.
- Ability to speak and present effectively in a group setting to associates, managers, partners, and client.
- Maintain a positive attitude under pressure and motivate teams.
- Proficient in computer and technical skills, (experience with Google workplace suite preferred).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
