We are seeking an innovative and dedicated Pastry Sous Chef to join our growing Bon Appetit program at Google!

This pivotal role holds direct responsibility for the quality, service, and overall experience within the dynamic Bon Appetit pastry operation. As a Pastry Sous Chef, you will be instrumental in motivating, training, developing, and directing our talented team members to consistently deliver a wide variety of exquisite desserts, pastries, and delightful sweet goods. While championing exceptional service and achieving daily goals and projects, you will also oversee critical daily administrative and operational tasks, including vigilant financial management and analysis, and rigorous sanitation and safety protocols.
The Pastry Sous Chef will be a key contributor to culinary excellence within the Food program, directly supporting and driving our commitment to operational perfection. This position reports directly to the Pastry Chef and will leverage their operational skills to forge strong partnerships with key stakeholders, promoting Bon Appetit's high standards and elevating user expectations across all pastry offerings.
Utilizing your expertise in diverse baking techniques, precise recipe alignment, and artistic pastry decoration, you will consistently craft memorable treats that resonate with and delight our guests.
Key Responsibilities:

Food & Workplace Safety: Actively promote a robust culture of Food and Workplace Safety, ensuring meticulous adherence to all PPE, hygiene and allergen management standards.

Culinary Vision: Precisely follow all menu specifications, production and prep expectations, and diligently utilize opening/closing checklists and responsibility guides to ensure consistent excellence.

Pastries: Prepare a diverse range of pastry items that perfectly complement and elevate our overall food operations.

Hospitality: Set a leading example of genuinely friendly and engaging hospitality, ensuring every guest interaction is memorable.

Inventory: Provide essential support with weekly inventory management to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize waste.

Talent: Actively train, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a skilled and motivated pastry team.

Sustainable Sourcing: Assist the Pastry Chef in guaranteeing that all products and ingredients are in strict accordance with sector and Food purchasing standards, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.

Compliance: Collaborate with the Executive Pastry Chef to ensure all employee guidelines and Bon Appetit policies are meticulously implemented and consistently adhered to.
Preferred Qualifications:

A Degree in Culinary Arts with a pastry specialization is preferred, or equivalent significant professional experience demonstrating pastry skills.

A minimum of 2 years of kitchen supervisory experience, or directly applicable culinary leadership experience, gained within a similar volume, high-quality food service establishment.

Value-driven, inspirational leadership, consistently invoked by a profound sense of purpose and responsibility.

Passion for exceptional pastry arts and genuine hospitality.

Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively guiding, motivating, and collaborating with a diverse team.

Proficient working knowledge of Google Suite applications.

Possesses hospitality knowledge and a keen interest in sustainable food practices.

Demonstrates elevated Health & Safety standards as a non-negotiable priority.

Proven ability to work both independently with initiative and effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Experience managing in a Union Environment is a plus.

ServSafe Certification is required.

Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ever-evolving culinary environment.
