Who we are looking for:
The VP of Finance will lead all financial matters relating to the food program at a high-tech, single-client account in the Bay Area. You will work closely with your Bay Area and Compass colleagues, as well as wider Bon Appetit and client stakeholders to support their different needs. This is a high-visibility leadership position, where you will own the financial narrative for the Bay Area—the account’s largest global Food Program hub. You are tasked with transforming granular operational data into a sophisticated story of value and financial stewardship. We are seeking a leader with the executive presence to influence C-suite stakeholders, the analytical rigor to navigate a fast-paced tech environment, and the consultative mindset to turn financial reporting into a catalyst for world-class hospitality experiences and influence the future of the food program.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Client Advisory & Executive Presence:
- Serve as the lead financial advisor to the SVP of Operations, the Bay Regional leadership team and the account’s Global Strategy & Finance Officer, ensuring financial reporting, compliance, and strategic projects align with client program goals and vision.
- Design and deliver high-impact executive presentations with appropriate storytelling and narratives that distill P&L reporting and complex contract mechanics into clear, data-backed recommendations for global leadership.
- Partner with multiple stakeholders and effectively navigate a matrixed global client environment of a global client to deliver results and outcomes
Advanced Reporting & Predictive Insights
- Partner with the Data Strategy team to transition from descriptive analytics (what happened) to predictive and prescriptive analytics (what will happen and what we should do).
- Identify and systematize ways of leveraging AI to increase efficiency and accuracy of team output.
- Define and monitor the "next generation" of KPIs that measure the intersection of financial performance, guest experience, and risk management.
- Lead the regional approach to financial data, ensuring that visualizations and dashboards don't just show numbers, but highlight actionable business trends and clear narratives.
Financial Stewardship & Contract Management
- Proactively identify opportunities for cost avoidance through sophisticated modeling and process innovation.
- Ensure rigorous compliance and governance, treating the contract not as a set of rules, but as a framework for mutual success and transparency.
- Oversee and enhance budgeting and forecasting processes with a focus on agility and proactive cross-functional collaboration, allowing the program to pivot in a fast-paced, ever-changing tech environment.
People Leadership
- Foster a culture where finance is a true partner to operations, breaking down silos to ensure data-backed decision-making at every level of the Bay Area business.
- Foster a culture of "curiosity-driven finance," empowering and building the capability of team members to go beyond the numbers to identify the operational "why" and provide proactive solutions to the SVP and client stakeholders.
- Build a high-performing team with a focus on action-oriented ‘talent-stacking’ to enable career growth and leadership resilience in the ecosystem.
What we look for in candidates:
- 10+ years of financial leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in a Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent functional experience
- MBA / CPA / CFA a plus
- Hands on, detail-oriented with ability to see the big picture, and anticipate client needs before they materialize
- Ability to motivate and work collaboratively with business partners, key team members, top management and client groups on various projects and initiatives
- Stays calm and methodical in a fast-paced and changing environment, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and information effectively
- Ability to set and communicate timelines, roles and responsibilities to multiple stakeholders and hold them accountable for deliverables
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex finance and accounting topics to non-financial audiences.
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills
- Thrives in ambiguous environments and is results driven
- Ability to partner with cross-functional finance and operations teams
- Excellent skills in G-Suite & Microsoft applications
- Experience in the food/hospitality or technology industry is a plus.
