Job Summary

he Sanitarian is responsible for ensuring compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health department, and Levy operational standards throughout food and beverage operations. This position supports a safe and clean environment for guests and team members by conducting inspections, monitoring food handling practices, coordinating corrective actions, and providing food safety education and training. The Sanitarian plays a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance and protecting the Levy brand through best-in-class sanitation and food safety practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of kitchens, concessions, bars, commissaries, storage areas, and service locations to ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations, including HACCP principles.
  • Verify proper food receiving, storage, preparation, cooking, cooling, reheating, holding, and service procedures.
  • Perform daily temperature audits and maintain required food safety documentation.
  • Inspect cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, utensils, food contact surfaces, and facilities.
  • Coordinate corrective actions for identified food safety or sanitation deficiencies.
  • Assist in preparing for health department inspections and internal food safety audits.
  • Investigate food safety concerns, guest complaints, and potential contamination incidents.
  • Maintain sanitation schedules and verify completion of cleaning assignments.
  • Monitor chemical handling, labeling, and storage practices.
  • Partner with culinary and operations teams to ensure food safety standards are consistently followed.
  • Train and coach team members on sanitation procedures, personal hygiene, and food safety best practices.
  • Maintain records and reports related to inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Support emergency response procedures related to food safety and public health concerns.
  • Promote a culture of food safety and sanitation excellence throughout the operation.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification or ability to obtain within established timeframe.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic recordkeeping systems.

Preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Public Health, Hospitality Management, Environmental Health, or related field.
  • Previous experience in food service sanitation, health inspections, quality assurance, or food safety compliance.
  • HACCP certification or experience implementing HACCP programs.
  • Experience within high-volume hospitality, sports and entertainment, or restaurant operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including kitchens, walk-in coolers, and freezers.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb stairs as needed.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and event schedules.
