Salary: $70,000 to $85,000

Job Summary

The Senior Banquet Manager role with Union Square Events at the New York Marriott Marquis plays a critical leadership role in executing large-scale events in one of the most dynamic and high-profile banquet operations in New York City. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of banquet service, ensuring outstanding guest satisfaction, driving operational excellence, and leading a large team of managers and hourly associates. The ideal candidate will bring a high level of professionalism, creativity, and operational expertise to every event, while maintaining brand standards and service excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the banquet department, overseeing event execution from pre-function setup through post-event breakdown.
  • Manage and mentor banquet managers, servers, housemen, and bartenders to ensure seamless service and consistent quality.
  • Serve as the senior operations lead on high-profile, large-scale events and VIP functions.
  • Partner closely with the Banquet, Culinary, and Event Management teams to ensure flawless coordination and guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor event timelines, room sets, and service execution to ensure BEO compliance.
  • Coach and develop management and hourly staff; provide training, feedback, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee labor forecasting, scheduling, and payroll compliance within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Address and resolve guest concerns with urgency and professionalism.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements to elevate service, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Support strategic initiatives including technology rollouts, service training, and sustainability efforts.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in banquet or event operations leadership, preferably in a high-volume hotel environment.
  • Proven ability to manage complex events with multiple ballrooms and service styles (e.g., plated dinners, buffets, receptions, hybrid events).
  • Strong leadership presence with demonstrated experience coaching and developing a team.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with Marriott systems such as CI/TY is a plus.
  • Flexible schedule required, including nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
