Working as the Cafe Sous Chef, you will be responsible for the successful operation of the Culinary Department for a facility. You will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items, developing daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment. You may supervise hourly associates and you work with Executive Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, entrepreneurial Culinary professional.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Executive Chef in overseeing daily culinary operations, ensuring cost controls, efficiency, and exceptional food quality across the café.
  • Assist in planning and developing menus that reflect seasonal ingredients, client preferences, and company standards.
  • Lead the execution of catering functions and special events, ensuring flawless presentation and service.
  • Collaborate with company marketing and culinary teams to launch and execute new programs and initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to sanitation, safety, and food preparation standards.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary degree (A.S.) or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Progressive experience in culinary and kitchen management; high-volume café or foodservice experience strongly preferred.
  • Background in catering and special event execution is a plus.
  • Knowledge of institutional and batch cooking techniques.
  • Strong understanding of food and catering trends, with a focus on quality, presentation, sanitation, and cost control.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and basic kitchen management software.
  • Enthusiastic about engaging in client satisfaction initiatives and delivering outstanding guest experiences.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred.
