Multi-Unit Director of Food and Nutrition Services

Salary: $110,000 - $120,000 / year

Other Forms of Compensation: Annual bonus potential, one-time sign-on bonus of $10,000 after 90 days of employment 

Pay Grade: 17

Job Summary:

 

Based at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital, the System Director of Dining Services provides operational oversight of all food and nutrition service operations at 9 hospitals within the health system. A team of 8 Directors and over 250 Associates will roll up to this position. As the System Director, you will report to a TouchPoint Vice President with a dotted line to our hospital client. Successful candidates will be strong in operations, P&L management, quality survey score performance, and ideally have 3 years of multi-unit experience. Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Approximately 20% financial management; 30% survey readiness/standards oversight; 25% associate engagement/interaction/coaching & development; 25% nursing and patient rounding engagement and relationship building.
  • Ensures client, customer service/satisfaction with efficient cost effective management meeting and exceeding stated expectations
  • Manages all foodservice-related activities, including patient care, non-patient care (retail, cafeteria, catering etc), quality improvement, sanitation, infection control, and all hospital-related activities at all sites
  • Is responsible for systems and processes to ensure the strategic and operational objectives of the client for the system are met
  • Visits patients on an assigned nursing unit or area and helps ensure that every patient is visited by someone from the management or professional team at least once during their hospital stay
  • Leads team of Directors within the system
  • Handles budgets within hospital system
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • B.S. Degree in Hospitality/Management or related field; or A.A. Degree plus seven years of directly related experience preferred
  • Multi-unit or large account Director level experience with 7+ years FNS & P&L, preferably in a hospital/healthcare setting
  • Previous experience in foodservice management operations of multi-unit acute care hospitals highly desirable
  • Confirmed knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience is desirable
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate on various levels to include management, client, customer and associate levels
  • Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills
  • Proficient computer skills to include; various computer programs, Microsoft Office programs, e-mail and the Internet
  • ServSafe® Certified
  • Certified Dietary Manager certificate or Registered Dietitian preferred
