Sous Chef

Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 / year

Other Forms of Compensation: One-time $2,000 Sign-on bonus after 90 days of employment 

Pay Grade: 12

Job Summary:

 

The Sous Chef will have daily responsibilities to include assisting in the oversite of patient room service / cafe / catering operations. Reporting to the Executive Chef, this role will supervise a team of 30 hourly associates to help maintain culinary and sanitation standards in our kitchen, as well as assisting with any caterings within the hospital. This position is based at a 425-bed hospital account in Nashville, Tennessee. Varied schedule to include days/evenings/weekends/holidays. $2,000 one-time sign-on bonus after 90 days of employment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Assists the Executive Chef with handling cost controls and control expenditures for the account
  • Assists the Executive Chef with planning and crafting menus
  • Assists leading culinary team
  • Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary team

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • A.O.S. Degree in Culinary Arts or culinary certificate and required experience
  • Culinary management/supervisory experience is required
  • Catering experience a plus
  • High volume, sophisticated foodservice operations experience - helpful
  • Institutional and batch cooking experiences desired
  • Proven knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Must be experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet
  • Must be willing to participate in patient satisfaction programs/activities
  • ServSafe certified - highly desirable
