Job Summary

As a Sous Chef I, you will support the day-to-day culinary operations at NBC 30 Rockefeller Center. In this role, you’ll work closely with the culinary leadership team to help deliver high-quality food and a great guest experience. This is an opportunity to build leadership skills, contribute to menu development, and grow your career in a fast-paced, collaborative kitchen environment.
 
You’ll play a key role in preparing and executing food programs while maintaining strong standards for quality, safety, and presentation.
 
Candidates should be open to working evenings and weekends as needed.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation and execution of daily menu items
  • Assist with menu planning and development
  • Help coordinate kitchen production and daily prep activities
  • Partner with the culinary team to launch new menus and programs
  • Support inventory management, ordering, and cost controls
  • Maintain high standards for food safety, sanitation, and presentation
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and day-to-day support to kitchen team members
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented kitchen environment
  • Assist with additional responsibilities as needed

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–4 years of culinary experience or relevant kitchen training
  • Some experience supporting or guiding team members (formal management experience not required)
  • Passion for food, hospitality, and continuous learning
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Interest in menu development and food trends
  • Basic understanding of food safety, sanitation, and cost controls
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, or similar food service environments
  • ServSafe or Department of Health Certification
  • Culinary degree or equivalent training
  • Familiarity with basic computer tools (e.g., Excel, inventory systems)
