General Description:

We’re looking for a creative and social media-savvy Marketing Intern to join Matador Eats. In this role, you'll work closely with the Marketing Manager to promote our dining program at CSUN through engaging events, campaigns, and digital content. You'll be encouraged to bring fresh ideas, lead your own initiatives, and help us create a student-centered brand presence on campus and online.

 

This internship is ideal for someone who loves social media, understands what grabs attention, and is excited to be part of a collaborative marketing team. You’ll also gain hands-on experience with event planning, research, campaign strategy, and administrative organization- making this a well-rounded opportunity to grow your skills. 

 

Requirements:

• Strong communication skills, written and verbal

• Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, and other relevant platforms

• Creative thinker with an interest in digital trends and student engagement

• Familiarity with basic editing apps (Canva, CapCut, etc.)

• Organized and detail-oriented

• Customer service knowledge or experience interacting with clients/customers 

• Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator or other design tools is a plus

• Experience in content creation, brand marketing, or event planning is a plus

• Willingness to assist with both creative and administrative tasks

• Providing examples of past work is a plus 

 

Job Responsibilities (May include any or all):

• Brainstorm and create content for Instagram and TikTok

• Support development of the monthly social media calendar

• Help plan, organize, and host student-facing events

• Attend evening events that might start/end beyond normal “business hours” (ex: 5-7:30pm)

• Actively participate in on-campus activations as a brand rep

• Attend and capture content at events (photo/video)

• Conduct marketing audits of promotional materials and signage

• Assist with Dine on Campus platform and content updates

• Survey students and analyze feedback to inform marketing decisions

• Support signage management across dining locations

• Contribute to concept development for campaigns and visuals

• Create marketing materials in Canva, Illustrator, or similar tools (as needed)

• Maintain organized marketing documentation and administrative workflows

• Attend team meetings, tabling events, and brainstorming sessions  

 

Learning Objectives:

• Understand how to create and implement a marketing plan from start to finish

• Learn to balance creative tasks and admin organization

• Gain experience using content to drive student engagement and brand awareness

• Understand how to research student preferences and use insights to guide strategy

• Learn to represent a brand with authenticity and innovation across platforms 

Job Summary

This position is paid, but not eligible for benefits such as medical, relocation, or housing.

 

Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease). Any such periods during which you do not perform work on the Company’s behalf may be unpaid and deemed a temporary layoff. However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work year-round, potentially at a different location during break periods.  Business needs may vary from year to year.
