Schedule: Sunday-Thursday day shifts, with occasional weekends based on events

Salary:  $55,000 - $60,000/year

Job Summary:

The Assistant Food Service Manager supports the Food Service Director in overseeing the daily operations of a retail café and high-volume catering department serving a large worship community. This role helps ensure exceptional hospitality, food quality, operational excellence, and customer service for worship services, conferences, ministry events, meetings, and special celebrations.

The ideal candidate is an organized, service-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys developing teams, and can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining a positive and professional presence.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Hospitality

Support daily café and catering operations to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and customer service.
Resolve guest concerns and operational issues professionally and promptly.
Monitor inventory, product quality, and operational efficiency.

Catering & Events

Coordinate and execute catering events for 200 to 1,000+ guests.
Assist with event planning, scheduling, setup, service, and breakdown.
Partner with ministry leaders and event organizers to meet event needs and expectations.
Support staffing, logistics, and resource allocation for large-scale events.

Leadership & Team Development

Supervise, coach, and support café and catering staff and volunteers.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling.
Promote a culture of servant leadership, hospitality, teamwork, and excellence.
Serve as manager on duty when the Food Service Director is unavailable.

Administration & Compliance

Assist with inventory management, purchasing, vendor coordination, and cost control.
Maintain schedules, reports, and operational records.
Support cash handling and point-of-sale operations.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and organizational policies.
Promote safe food handling practices and maintain clean, organized work environments.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in Hospitality, Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, Business, or related field preferred.
3+ years of experience in food service, hospitality, catering, restaurant, or event operations.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Experience supporting large-scale catering events and high-volume food service operations.
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
ServSafe or equivalent certification preferred.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and special events.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
