  • We are hiring immediately for full time and part time MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICAL) (TAMU PV) positions.
  • Location: TAMU - 100 University Drive, Prairie View, TX 77446. (Openings at other locations within school district available) Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Full time and part time schedules; days and hours may vary. More details upon interview. (Full and Part Time with the flexibility to meet most scheduling needs)
  • Requirement: Must possess and maintain a current Apprentice Electrician License issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
  • Pay Range: $13.00 per hour to $17.50 per hour.

Job Summary

  • On-Site Assistance: Assist licensed electricians with routing, bending, and installing conduit, pulling wire, and assembling electrical panels.
  • Installation Support: Safely wire, mount, and connect electrical outlets, light fixtures, junction boxes, and safety switches under direct supervision.
  • Blueprint Literacy: Learn to read, interpret, and track modifications on electrical layout drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Material Handling: Maintain, organize, and transport safety equipment, electrical components, and industrial hand and power tools across job sites.
  • Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and current National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements
    o    Assists in making decisions on all normal and complex repairs; reports major problems to the maintenance supervisor and foreman. 
    o    Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems, or the facilities of any related systems, using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment. 
    o    Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs or diagnoses, electrical and mechanical building systems electronic signaling systems, fire alarm systems and similar specialty equipment items with appropriate training, certification skills and licensing requirements as needed. 
    o    Reads, comprehends and transmits complicated detailed instructions verbally and in writing. 
    o    Reviews work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; makes punch lists. 
    o    Reports on and repairs discrepancies as assigned. 
    o    Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems, alone or as part of a team. 
    o    Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes work orders, tests and inspections. 
    o    Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems. 
    o    Serves as a member of facility emergency response team. 

Qualifications: 

  • Licensing: Must possess and maintain a current Apprentice Electrician License issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, bend, crawl, and work at heights for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis.
