Job Summary

Plans and directs the daily operations of  plumbing and utility maintenance responsibilities including planning and use of materials and inspection of plumbing equipment and systems, as well as ensuring all work performed meets regulations throughout the medical center.

Responsibilities:
• Plans, coordinates and schedules the activities of skilled trades staff in the maintenance and repair of Medical Center buildings and equipment
• Monitors work orders to completion of projects to ensure that labor, supplies and materials are charged to appropriate work orders
• Provides direction to staff in the proper methods to use in the performance of their duties to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors
• Conducts inspections of work sites to ensure that the work conforms and complies with the job specifications.
• Recommends and implements policies and procedures for assigned area
• Estimates equipment parts and materials needed to complete assigned work
• Maintains communication with vendors, contractors, departmental personnel to coordinate activities and information regarding the repair, alteration and maintenance of equipment, machinery, systems and buildings
• Conduct all work in accordance with the Joint Commission, NFPA and all other applicable regulatory agencies.
• Supervise maintenance of select mechanical systems/equipment and associated maintenance staff as directed by the Facilities Engineering Director. 
 
Qualifications:
• A high school diploma or GED, College Preferred
• 3-5 years of plumbing experience
• Hospital plumbing experience preferred
• Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and withstand changing temperature conditions
• Must be able to maneuver large trucks in and out of elevator and down corridors with ease
• Must be able to lift and push heavy equipment
• Must be able to bend with ease
