Job Summary
As a Nutrition Lab Operations Manager (at Mayo Clinic), you will direct the successful operation of Food & Nutrition Services Nutrition Lab operation (Centralized formula and human milk handling in a hospital setting). You will be responsible for oversight and management of all preparation, labeling, storage and delivery of formulas and human milk in the Nutrition Lab for infants, pediatric and adult patient populations. • The Nutrition Lab Operations Manager reports to the Nutrition Systems Director.
• This position has direct reports with approximately 12 FTEs.
• Successful applicants will have a strong leadership mentality, time management skills, problem solving capability, and decision-making skills.
Work Schedule:
• Full Time
• 8 to 10-hour shifts
• Hours variable from 6:45 am to 5:30 pm
• Typically Monday – Friday - on call every other weekend and work every other holiday
• Flexible paid time off – not set limit annually
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage Nutrition Lab operations, while maintaining excellent relationships with patients, care team, and clients.
• Establishes goals and oversees implementation of new and changing processes.
• Hires, leads, directs, trains, develops, evaluates, and disciplines new and existing Nutrition Lab team members.
• Participates in meetings where department goals are established and implements action plan to achieve expected outcomes.
• Completes all required projects, documentation, reports, and logs in a timely, professional, and thorough manner.
• Assists with successful daily operation of Nutrition Lab.
• Promote the professional growth and development of their team.
• Regulate staffing in accordance with fluctuating workload.
• Track and analyze key performance indicator data, identify trends, and develop strategic recommendations to improve performance.
• Identify operational deficiencies and implement plans for improvement.
• Support continuous improvement to achieve client and employee satisfaction; identify and recommend improvements in processes and procedures.
• Other job duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous management experience – it is a bonus if it is in a hospital setting!
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
• Proficient computer skills required to be successful.
