Job Summary:
The Innovations Manager leads the strategy and execution of automation, AI-enabled solutions, and self-service analytics initiatives that reduce manual reporting and enable scalable, data-driven decision-making.
This role serves as an upstream partner in stakeholder engagement, shaping problem statements, clarifying business requirements, and translating early-stage needs into structured, scalable solutions. Acting as the bridge between operations, technology, and Power BI (PBI) development, the Innovations Manager aligns business priorities with enterprise-ready technical capabilities.
The role oversees innovation from concept through operational transition, ensuring solutions align with data architecture, governance standards, and long-term reporting strategy.
Responsibilities:
Innovation Strategy & Execution
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to streamline reporting and reduce manual processes.
- Partner with the Power BI Manager to jointly prioritize integrated initiatives and align governance/standards across Power Platform solutions and BI reporting
- Develop and manage an innovation roadmap aligned with business and reporting objectives.
- Evaluate and pilot emerging tools, automation platforms, and AI-enabled capabilities.
- Establish success metrics and measure business impact of initiatives.
- Coordinate with data engineering/technical teams and BI developers to ensure required data is available and analytics-ready
Team Leadership, Growth & Development
- Manage, mentor, and scale a growing BI team, including hiring additional analysts and developers.
- Prioritize and balance scheduled projects vs. fast-turn ad hoc requests.
- Drive team development in Power BI, modeling, performance optimization, governance, and data quality practices.
- Conduct technical reviews of dashboards, semantic models, DAX, Power Query, and overall design.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, including emerging capabilities in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
Stakeholder Engagement & Solution Design
- Engage stakeholders early to define objectives, scope, and success criteria.
- Translate business requirements into structured solution designs and delivery plans.
- Provide guidance on feasibility, scalability, and sustainability.
- Ensure alignment between operational needs and downstream PBI/reporting development.
Automation & AI Enablement
- Lead delivery of automation workflows, applications, and system integrations.
- Promote appropriate use of AI-enabled solutions (e.g., intelligent automation, AI-assisted reporting, generative insights).
- Ensure solutions meet security, governance, and data integrity standards.
Leadership
- Lead and develop Analytics & Automation Analysts.
- Review technical designs and enforce quality standards.
- Manage team workload across innovation, collaboration, and delivery priorities.
Qualifications:
Required
- 6+ years of experience in business intelligence, automation, enterprise applications, or data platforms.
- Experience leading or mentoring technical professionals.
- Demonstrated success delivering scalable automation or analytics solutions.
- Experience evaluating and implementing emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, system integration, and structured data principles.
Technical Competencies
- Experience with automation and workflow orchestration platforms.
- Working knowledge of APIs, application architecture, and system integrations.
- Familiarity with cloud environments and modern data platforms.
- Proficiency in SQL and data validation practices.
- Understanding of responsible AI use and governance considerations.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Analytics, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
