Job Summary
Do you light up in a fast-paced, people-first environment where no two days look the same? Are you the kind of HR professional who feels just as at home on the floor with an operations team as you do in a training room? We're looking for a District HR Generalist who brings genuine hospitality energy to everything they do — someone who sees great employee experiences and great guest experiences as two sides of the same coin.
This is a hybrid role, with two to three days a week out in the field across our Bay Area portfolio. You'll be a visible, trusted partner to our F&B operations teams — not someone who waits behind a desk for issues to land in an inbox, but someone who's already out there building relationships, spotting opportunities, and helping teams thrive.
What You'll Do
Be the Trusted ER Partner — Investigate and advise management on associate relations issues, taking a proactive approach that keeps operational leaders aligned on best practices. You'll represent the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations when needed, and dig into exit interview data to understand what's really driving separations — then turn those insights into practical recommendations for reducing turnover and absenteeism.
Train, Coach, and Develop — Design and deliver management training across the topics that matter most: interviewing and selection, terminations, sexual harassment prevention, performance management, and progressive discipline. You'll also lead new hire orientation and bring HR 101 sessions to life for managers building their people skills.
Drive Recruitment Success — Partner with managers to build and execute recruitment plans that keep qualified talent flowing into the portfolio.
Show Up and Show Out — Attend operational meetings regularly to boost HR visibility, roll out account-level HR initiatives, and be a genuine presence for the teams you support. You'll also present at Field Operations Workshops, contributing to HR training and development across the broader organization.
Champion the Employee Experience — Support associate satisfaction surveys and help interpret feedback into meaningful action, all in service of our Preferred Employer goals and broader HR business plan.
What You Bring
A true hospitality mentality — energetic, engaged, and comfortable building relationships on the operations floor
3–5 years of multi-unit HR generalist experience, with strong employee relations chops; union experience preferred
Experience in food & beverage or hospitality HR strongly preferred — you understand the pace and pressure of high customer contact environments
Emotional intelligence and tact, with a proven ability to partner effectively across every level of an organization
A curious, growth mindset — you stay ahead of state and federal employment law, plus emerging people and culture trends
A data-driven approach — you can define problems, gather facts, and draw conclusions that lead to real solutions
Bachelor's degree required . SPHR/PHR certification preferred
If you're ready to be the heartbeat of HR for a dynamic, multi-site portfolio — where your work directly shapes both employee and guest experiences — we'd love to meet you.
