Role summary:

As the Assistant General Manager, you will be responsible for the service and experience within our Pastry and Catering operations. You will motivate, train, develop, and direct team members to deliver exceptional pastry creations, provide outstanding service, and accomplish daily goals and projects. The Assistant General Manager will focus on hospitality and the overall process experience for the pastry  and catering program in order to support operational excellence.

Our Assistant General Managers have a strong focus on innovative hospitality, operational excellence, and communication that leverages partnerships with key stakeholders (culinary, marketing, procurement, safety, human resources) to promote standards and enhance user experiences.

The great things you will do:

• Manage workplace and food safety, including allergen management specific to pastry

• Designs, manages, and owns the overall pastry experience, not just the offerings

• Has a passion for quality pastry preparation and taste.

• Trains and develops the management team

• Assists the District Manager, Resident District Manager, or General Manager to ensure manager reviews, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions are delivered in a professional and timely manner

• Monitor and manage all financial responsibilities

• Responds to all comments and complaints within 24 hours and follows up with a written or verbal response with copies to the DM and our partner.

• Oversees and contributes to the successful opening of all new Cafés with a focus on pastry operations.

• Meets all timelines for quarter and year-end reports given by our partner and SectorEmployer

Minimum qualifications:

• Ability to drive and enhance a culture of Food and Workplace Safety

• Bachelor's degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience

• Has a minimum of 3-5 years food service multi-unit supervision experience, with a strong emphasis on pastry or baking operations.

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

• Strong culinary knowledge of pastry and baking practices, protocols, and procedures.

• Proficient in computer and technical skills, working knowledge of Google Suite tools, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Managing in a Union Environment is a plus

• ServSafe Certification
