About the Role:
We are seeking a creative and dynamic Marketing & Communications Intern to join our team. This role is perfect for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for storytelling and a knack for engaging with a college audience. You will play a key role in developing and executing our marketing strategy, helping to highlight the vibrant culture and culinary offerings of Cal Poly Campus Dining.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Produce compelling multimedia content, including high-quality photos and videos of food, campus events, and student life. We're looking for a creative eye that can capture fun, trendy moments.
- Copywriting: Draft and edit a wide range of written materials, including engaging content for our email newsletters, website, and internal communications.
- Event Support: Assist in hosting on-campus events, interacting directly with students and campus visitors at our promotional booths. This role requires an outgoing and engaging personality to help build excitement and strong connections.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- Strong writing and communication skills with a portfolio or examples of past work.
- Experience with content creation, including photography and video.
- A creative mindset with the ability to generate fresh, trendy ideas.
- Comfortable interacting with a diverse group of people in public settings.
- Experience with graphic design software, particularly Adobe, is a plus.
Welcomed but Not Essential:
- Graphic Design: Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite is a plus, as is utilizing graphic design skills to create visual assets for various marketing channels.

Job Summary
This position is paid, but not eligible for benefits such as medical, relocation, or housing.
Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease). Any such periods during which you do not perform work on the Company’s behalf may be unpaid and deemed a temporary layoff. However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work year-round, potentially at a different location during break periods. Business needs may vary from year to year.
