Job Summary
At the direction of the RVP, the Operations Manager provides support in planning, evaluating, implementing, and reporting on departmental operations for a large multi-unit account at Santa Clara University. The account includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, after-hours service, catering, and athletic concessions, supported by 20 managers and 130+ union employees. The role is primarily Monday–Friday with some evenings and weekends. The Operations Manager assists with oversight of business activities, strategic planning, program administration, and serves as a departmental liaison to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Leads and supports departmental operations, including planning, directing, evaluating, and supervising assigned units and management staff.
• Provides fiscal oversight, prepares financial reports, and drives cost-control initiatives for labor and materials.
• Contributes to the development of short- and long-term departmental goals and integrated strategic plans.
• Advises on University-wide programs, initiatives, and policy development affecting the Company.
• Coordinates cross-departmental activities at the direction of the RVP to ensure operational alignment.
• Monitors processes, compliance, and internal controls; provides reporting and improvement recommendations.
• Stays current on industry developments and participates in professional development.
• Serves on committees and user groups as requested.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Four-year college degree.
• Five to ten years of progressive POM management and leadership experience with proven cost-containment results in a large, complex organization.
• Experience in a college or university facility required.
• Strong leadership, communication, and planning skills with the ability to understand interconnected operating units.
• Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills with a high customer-service focus.
• Public speaking ability.
• Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrates initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.
