Job Summary

The Stewarding position is a hands on role that is a very important part of delivering upon our commitment to quality guest experiences.

Responsibilities: 

• Strives to uphold all hygiene and sanitation regulations, ensuring that all equipment in the kitchens and dishwashing areas are clean and in good working order, being sure to report any deficiencies to the Stewarding Supervisor/kitchen management team.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance cleaning
• Ensure compliance to standards set by management for proper care and cleaning of all china, glassware, silverware, pots and pans, large cooking equipment, floor drains, vent-a-hoods, removal of trash areas and maintenance of kitchen and back hallways
• Clean walls, ceiling tiles, mop, sweep kitchens and service areas and remove trash daily
• Clean ovens, hoods, filters, drains, hot boxes, steam tables, ceiling vents, according to schedule or as needed
• Break down cardboard boxes, organization and transportation of all recyclables
• Clean the entire Kitchen premises and ensure that they are kept in an excellent state of cleanliness, safety and sanitation at all times
• Receive and inspect food products as required. Transporting, rotating, labeling and dating of products once they received, and properly stock items into their appropriate storage areas
• Assisting colleagues, steward management and culinary team to work to their greatest ability by assisting and supplying the resources needed to accomplish the task
• Assist with any food safety and sanitation compliance as directed by the Stewarding Supervisor /kitchen management team
• Assist with food production compliance as it relates to food safety and sanitation practices as well as guest satisfaction objectives
• Conducts themselves in a professional manner on-duty and off-duty with the awareness that all actions and communications are within guest or staffs view
• Take inventory of existing china, glassware, silverware, equipment, chemicals and food items as required and reports to Stewarding Supervisor/kitchen management team
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Kitchen Steward:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous food and beverage experience preferred
• Food Handler Certified
• Must be able speak, read and understand basic directions
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include AM and PM shifts, weekends and holidays
• Heavy lifting, working above floor level and the ability to maintain a productive pace throughout the workday is a requirement of the position.
