CATERING CHEF

 

 

  • We are hiring immediately for a CATERING CHEF position.
  • Location: SnapChat, 2900 31st St, Santa Monica, CA 90405. Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Full-Time; primarily Monday through Friday 6am-3:30pm, hours may vary based on event needs. Occasional weekends 2-3 times a year. 
  • Details: The Catering Chef will be responsible for all BOH aspects of catering events including menu creation, menu costing, product orders and inventory, staffing scheduling of team or temps as needed, and managing small catering kitchen team and temp staff when applicable. The Catering Chef will be leading the Catering Menu design and costing along with the Catering Managers and Catering Team. Leading Catering Production Team of 3 in prep, planning, and execution of all daily and larger-scale office catering events. On days with no catering, being the Number 2 Chef under our Executive Chef helps lead our Culinary Team's daily operations at our Cafes. Overseeing our VIP Executive Building and its kitchen for our Exec's VIP meetings and events. Keeping up with our high safety and sanitation standards and helping lead Health/Safety Audits in tandem with our Executive Chef.
  • Requirement: Menu creation, costing, budgeting, high volume catered events, and VIP intimate event experience.
  • Starting Pay: $70,000-80,000 per year

Job Summary

Summary: As a Chef, you will ensure client and customer service satisfaction is attained by providing culinary resources and support. You may be responsible for managing the departments scheduling, discipline, and/or hiring.  You may assist the Executive Chef and/or Sous Chef in developing new menus, recipes, and ordering. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, entrepreneurial Culinary professional.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Provides frontline culinary resources and support.
  • Assists with food cost control, menu planning, purchasing, and ensures food quality guidelines are followed.
  • Assists with planning and creating menus.
  • Produces and executes catering events.
  • Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with marketing and culinary team.
  • Assists with managing cost controls and control expenditures for the account.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 1 to 3 years of culinary management experience.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
  • Hands-on chef experience is required.
  • Extensive catering experience is preferred.
  • High volume batch cooking and complex food service operations experience is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • ServSafe Certification is preferred.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products including Excel.
  • Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.
