SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall management of the Environmental Services Department. Responsible for successfully coordinating and supporting all activities of the department. Works with all levels of the facility staff in all matters relating to the cleanliness of the facility. Ensures hospital meets all JCAHO guidelines.

This position will usually oversee 3-4 facilities usually within the same hospital system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develops financial forecasts and balances programs and resources for account(s).

• Responsible for attainment of financial goals for the account(s).

• Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of financial data and statistics.

• Reviews and analyzes financial statements, weekly operating reports and other financial results.

• Monitors and audits the accounting and control process within the account(s).

• Maintains and supports client satisfaction at a level that ensures account retention.

• Administers required client/customer surveys (and other feedback instruments) and responds in a timely and effective manner.

• Ensures that all employees demonstrate an aggressive hospitality (respect) orientation toward customers and clients.

• Promotes client awareness of program alternatives and the availability of corporate resources.

• Monitors and ensures compliance with the provisions of client contracts.

• Assist in customizing programs to meet each account's unique needs as required.

• Monitors client communications effectiveness including communicating the benefits of maintaining TouchPoint Support Services as the services management provider.

• Assist in developing and/or monitoring a district/unit business plan and reporting to clients as needed.

• Participate and add value to hospital committee (i.e. Infection Control/Safety Committee).

• Provide recommendations for replacement of furnishing and wall covering with NOSHA standards in mind.

• Increases regional revenue and/or operating profit contribution by promoting and monitoring the building of services and creating other opportunities for growth.

• Maintains an awareness of the competition and market conditions internal and external to the accounts and districts.

• Coordinates with other functional areas the resale (reassessment and rebid) process.

• Promotes and leverages TouchPoint Support Services resources to maximize advantage throughout the region.

• Identifies and recommends new sale opportunities.

• Responsible for approval of the costing in the sales/survey process.

• Active involvement with sales vice president and/or sales directors in the bid and selling process as required.

• Evaluate and justify supplies, equipment and purchases as needed.

• Coordinate housekeeping activities with other departments.

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise functions and activities of the department.

• Establish work standards and work flow.

• Establish and implement policies and procedures for departmental operations.

• Demonstrates and promotes corporate culture, values and management philosophy.

• Demonstrates a proactive and enthusiastic attitude in striving for and meeting all business goals and objective.

• Recognizes the importance of effective leadership in meeting and targets set forth in the region's performance plan.

• Recognizes the need for and demonstrates good communication and listening skills with clients, customers and employees.

• Visit each district and selected accounts on a regular basis to ensure that a sharing and exchange of ideas and experiences occurs.

• Promotes teamwork within the region.

• Represents the corporation both professionally and ethically at all times.

• Interfaces proactively with all support departments to obtain best results for all concerned.

• Acts as a positive role model.

• Responsible for implementation and effectiveness of programs in each district for compliance with corporate and division standards.

• Takes necessary actions to ensure that all corporate quality and service standards are met.

• Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies.

 

• Responsible for monitoring compliance with the agreed upon corporate and divisional marketing programs.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for productivity and staffing that is appropriate to the account(s).

• Participate in the human resource planning process to support implementation of human resource strategies and tactics including proper staffing levels.

• Responsible for selection of management personnel, as required.

• Maintain and develop job descriptions for department staff.

• Responsible for implementation of an effective employee relations program through the region.

• Encourages employee creativity and innovation.

• Provides recognition for employee when programs are implemented with success.

• Responsible for compliance with all human resource policies and procedures by all employees within the region.

• Responsible for correct and fair wage and benefit administration.

• Works closely with the human resource vice president and account managers to ensure the achievement of safety, TJTC/JTPA, EEO, benefit administration and other human resources program goals within the region.

• Demonstrates knowledge of EEO policy.

• In conjunction with human resources develops the region's training plan for management employees and ensures its successful implementation.

• Responsible for preparation and implementation of specific development and training specific plans for district and key minority/high potential management personnel.

• Provides opportunities for advancement and other developmental experiences for successful managers and maintains a succession plan.

• Encourages staff to participate in education program.

• Coaches and counsels managers as needed; provides continuous feedback on performance and applies appropriate developmental tools to assist in their individual growth.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Four year college degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

• A Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of housekeeping management experience at a large hospital account required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of facility.

• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Financial and Accounting skills.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.

 

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.

• Ability to use working knowledge of working environment to meet established goals and objectives.
