Job Summary
Chartwells K12 is seeking a dynamic and innovative Director of Dining Services to lead food service operations for Tuba City Unified School District in Arizona. Serving approximately 1,400 students across three schools (PreK–12), this role oversees a team of 20–25 frontline associates and is responsible for ensuring exceptional food quality, safety, and service. We’re looking for a professional, energetic leader who is committed to the community and passionate about creating a positive dining experience for students—all while enjoying a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (pending the needs of the business).
The ideal candidate will bring strong food service management experience, including financial oversight, team leadership, and operational excellence. While the current focus is on breakfast and lunch programs, there is exciting potential to expand services, making this a great opportunity for someone with a hospitality mindset and fresh ideas. Success in this role requires excellent organizational skills, a deep understanding of food safety, and the ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, and school leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire our team of up to 20/25 frontline associates.
- Drive critical initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and increase profitability.
- Recruit, train, and develop top talent within the organization.
- Oversees the annual budget and control costs.
- Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Build strong relationships with clients, customers, and associates.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of a dining service operation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Food Services/Management/Hospitality/Culinary/Nutrition preferred, not mandatory.
- Three plus years of foodservice management experience, prefers K12.
- Knowledge of high-volume food production is preferred.
- Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed services experience.
- Exceptional leadership skills.
- Catering experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
