About the Program
USF Dining Services, operated by Chartwells Higher Education, in partnership with the USF School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, is seeking motivated students for a two-semester rotational internship program. This program provides hands-on learning, leadership opportunities, and professional development in contract food service management and hospitality operations.
Interns will gain valuable experience across multiple functional areas while completing academic benchmarks aligned with the School of Hospitality.
What You’ll Do
- Operations: Daily dining management, scheduling, and customer service
- Culinary: Food preparation, safety, catering, and event execution
- Finance: Budgeting, inventory management, and financial reporting
- Human Resources: Recruitment, training, and compliance
- Marketing: Promotions, digital content, and student engagement
- Leadership & Supervision: Leading shifts, supervising staff, and coordinating events
What You’ll Learn
- Soft Skills: Leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving
- Technical Skills: Food safety, event execution, labor scheduling, financial systems, and operational management
- How to balance hospitality standards with large-scale contract food service operations
Program Requirements
- Enrollment: Current student in the USF School of Hospitality & Tourism Management
- Availability: Open availability, seven days per week (except during classes or labs)
- Standards: Attendance and conduct must meet the same expectations as USF Dining employees
- Commitment: Participation across two academic semesters (Fall & Spring)

Job Summary
This position is paid, but not eligible for benefits such as medical, relocation, or housing.
Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease). Any such periods during which you do not perform work on the Company’s behalf may be unpaid and deemed a temporary layoff. However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work year-round, potentially at a different location during break periods. Business needs may vary from year to year.
