Job Summary
Working as the HR Generalist, your primary focus will be to support the Human Resources function so that it meets both the needs of the business and of our associates. The HR Generalist will support the HR Manager in the following functional areas: associate and Labor relations, HR specific training, HR legal requirements and compliance, development and revision of HR policies and procedures, performance and merit increase monitoring, hiring non-exempt associates and managing the data associated with Union bonus administration and overtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Administers all company HR related policies consistently in accordance with company handbook.
- Posts and awards overtime hours and responds to union employee questions in accordance with the CBA.
- Objectively coaches associates and management through complex and difficult issues. Assists with on-site investigations.
- Manages hourly recruitment and onboarding processes from initial posting to final hiring.
- Maintains and coordinates associate recognition programs.
- Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws.
- Regularly runs and/or reviews HR activity reports.
- Instigates and implements HR initiatives and process improvements.
- Reviews and processes forms regarding change of status, timesheet corrections and time off requests.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of human resources generalist experience.
- Prior experience working with unions and CBAs preferred.
- Proficient Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience in an HRIS system a plus.
- Demonstrated experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from associates and managers in a clear, concise, professional manner.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills required.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience with international hiring a plus.
