Position Title: Director of Banquets

Salary: $105,000 to $120,000

Job Summary

The Director of Banquets manages all banquet/ Catering operations and banquet staff on a daily basis. The core responsibility of this role is to oversee the banquet operations team, including, Senior Banquet Managers, Banquet Managers, and banquet staff. This position ensures the highest level of service throughout all event phases and maintains operational excellence in banquet execution. The Director of Banquets maximizes revenue opportunities through effective event execution and service enhancements while maintaining strong cost controls to ensure departmental profitability. The role is responsible for achieving high levels of guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and financial performance for the Banquet Operations Department.

 

Managing Banquet Operations and Budgets

• Develop and implement operational strategies for banquet operations.

• Establish measurable goals and performance standards for the banquet department.

• Ensure adherence to operational policies, procedures, and service standards.

• Oversee execution of meetings, conferences, weddings, and large‑scale events.

• Manage logistics including pre‑event setup, service, and breakdown.

• Maintain banquet equipment, furniture, and inventory.

• Implement and enforce safety and emergency procedures.

• Ensure staff maintain required certifications and training.

• Support operational initiatives and service enhancements.

Managing Profitability

• Ensure banquet operations remain within departmental budgets.

• Adjust labor and operational costs based on event volume.

• Monitor banquet profitability and identify revenue opportunities.

• Review operational performance and implement improvements.

Short Description

• Consult with clients to determine event objectives and service requirements.

• Demonstrate leadership in hospitality and service excellence.

• Ensure the banquet team delivers consistent service experiences.

• Maintain high guest satisfaction to support repeat business.

Leading Banquet Management Teams

• Lead and manage banquet leadership teams.

• Conduct operational meetings to review upcoming events and staffing needs.

• Coordinate banquet teams responsible for event delivery.

• Work closely with culinary leadership on food service standards.

• Collaborate with Human Resources on employment policies and compliance.

• Maintain consistent communication across banquet operations.

• Review staffing levels to ensure operational needs are met.

• Review event schedules and troubleshoot operational challenges.

• Participate in pre‑event meetings to communicate expectations.

• Ensure disciplinary procedures follow established operating standards.

• Support performance management and staff development.
