Job Summary

The safety of our guests and team members is a top priority. The Food Safety Supervisor is responsible for supporting and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards throughout Nationals Park. This role partners with culinary, concessions, warehouse, and operations teams to ensure compliance with Levy standards and applicable health department regulations.

 

The ideal candidate is a hands-on food safety professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is committed to maintaining exceptional food quality, sanitation, and safety standards.

 

Detailed Responsibilities

 

  • Monitor food safety and sanitation practices throughout concession stands, kitchens, clubs, suites, commissaries, storage areas, and other food and beverage locations.
  • Conduct routine food safety inspections and operational walk-throughs before, during, and after events.
  • Coach managers, supervisors, and team members on proper food handling, sanitation, allergen awareness, personal hygiene, and food safety procedures.
  • Provide immediate coaching and corrective direction when food safety or sanitation standards are not being followed.
  • Monitor proper food receiving, storage, preparation, holding, cooling, reheating, and service procedures.
  • Verify food temperatures are properly monitored, documented, and maintained in accordance with Levy and health department standards.
  • Ensure required food safety records, including temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and inspection documentation, are completed accurately.
  • Identify food safety risks and partner with culinary and operations leadership to implement timely corrective actions.
  • Support the implementation and execution of Levy's food safety and sanitation programs.
  • Assist with food safety and sanitation training for new and existing team members.
  • Support health department and third-party sanitation inspections and assist with corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Monitor cleaning and sanitizing procedures, chemical usage, equipment cleanliness, pest prevention, and overall sanitation conditions.
  • Assist with documentation and follow-up of reported foodborne illness concerns or other food safety incidents.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable food safety regulations, Levy policies, and industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Experience

 

  • Experience in food safety, sanitation, culinary operations, quality assurance, or high-volume food and beverage operations preferred.
  • Stadium, arena, convention center, hotel, restaurant, or catering experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of food handling, temperature control, cross-contamination prevention, cleaning, sanitation, and food safety practices.
  • Ability to identify food safety risks and provide effective corrective guidance.
  • Strong coaching, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate food safety documentation and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across culinary, concessions, operations, warehouse, and Human Resources teams.
  • Ability to work a flexible event schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and Nationals home games.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods while conducting inspections throughout the stadium.
