Job Summary
Chartwells Higher Ed is seeking a Chef Manager on the campus of WICHITA STATE UNIVERSITY to lead the culinary innovations in the area of ATHLETIC CONCESSIONS. Concessions at Wichita State University (WSU) events are designed to enhance the fan experience, offering a variety of food and drink options that cater to diverse tastes.

Charles Koch Arena (Basketball and Volleyball)
- Concessions are located throughout the arena, with quick service and options for snacks, meals, and drinks.

Eck Stadium (Baseball)
- Features a range of traditional ballpark fare alongside specialty items unique to Shocker games.

Wilkins Stadium (Softball)
WSU athletics are a central part of the community, bringing pride and excitement to Wichita. WSU offers a variety of dining options on campus to suit students, faculty, and visitors. Wichita blends a friendly, small-town atmosphere with a surprising amount of cultural and entertainment options, making it a unique and enjoyable city. Wichita’s culinary scene is diverse and dynamic, offering everything from classic Kansas barbecue to international cuisine. Wichita has local breweries, farmers market, food trucks and wine festivals. Whether you’re craving down-home comfort food, trendy eats, or adventurous international dishes, Wichita’s culinary scene has something to satisfy every palate. Downtown features a vibrant mix of restaurants, shops, breweries, and public art. The Old Town district is especially lively with nightlife and events. Sedgwick County Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the U.S., featuring animals from around the world. It’s especially known for its immersive African and South American exhibits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full culinary management of food service operation to include inventory, ordering and receiving
- Knowledge of P&L accountability and contract-managed service experience is desirable
- Proficient in menu development, cost controls, purchasing and inventory with a focus on sourcing and utilizing local food products
- Possesses a passion for sustainability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have a working knowledge of HACCP
- Three years of culinary management experience in contract foodservice, fine dining setting, or restaurant with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control
- Extensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
- Experience with exposition cooking needed
- Knowledge of P&L accountability and contract-managed service experience is desirable
- ServSafe certified is a plus
